Bridgetown, Barbados

After a series of unfortunate events, I landed in Barbados with no shoes or change of clothes in my luggage. We were only laying over for a short 20 hours so I made the most of it, wearing hotel slippers out to dinner! Needless to say Bridgetown is a little piece of paradise, the sand so soft and trees so lush, I'd like to visit again soon!

Detroit

Following the Antique market, we drove a couple hours south to Detroit to catch a baseball game at Comerica Park. Not only was it my first baseball game (not as boring as one would think) it was also my first time visiting this city that I heard so much about. Driving around Detroit gave me the chills, seeing the wide streets so deserted, stores and apartment buildings abandoned was at the same time sad, but beautiful and romantic.

When speaking to locals, you could sense the great attachment that they still have towards their city, how much they care and are hoping for its rebirth! After seeing the impressive Art Deco ceiling of the Guardian building and the abandoned train station, drinking Negronis at Cliff Bells jazz club and stuffing my face with Coney island dogs, I was convinced too, this city is pretty cool!

Midland, Michigan

Last weekend was spent searching for treasures in the heart of Michigan at the Midland Antique festival. I loved roaming through the booths talking to vendors, I especially love antiques for the history that they carry. The stories behind these pieces add so much value to otherwise simply pretty objects.

My favourite find of the weekend is by far my wicker peacock chair, I had been looking for one like this for a while! The vendor was a sweet lady who had bought it for her apartment in the 70s, I love knowing that I'm the second owner of that piece and it now sits proudly in my living room!
