Nightcrawling in Double Denim

vintage denim jacket / vintage crochet top / Zara denim skirt / Forever 21 sandals / vintage straw bag / handmade jewelry

When I came across this rusty blue building close to Laurier Park, I just knew I had to shoot a denim story. I love the juxtaposition of different denim tones, the colors just work! I paired them with a neutral crochet top, ladylike sandals and my new floral embroidered straw purse to add a whimsical touch and break away from the grungy look you normally get from head-to-toe denim!

Henna

Henna comes from a leaf that is crushed into a paste to stain the skin and achieve intricate body art, it's Indian tradition for brides to get henna designs on their hands and feet on their wedding day, to bring them luck, joy and beauty.

I've always found it really beautiful and artistic so I decided to try it out myself. I found the henna at a middle eastern grocery store called Akhavan, this one comes in an aluminum cone with a tiny opening which makes it easy to apply, like icing a cake! I was only able to do it on my left hand because I'm so not ambidextrous, but it was quite fun to do and the result is so beautiful and exotic!

I plan on bringing a few tubes to Burning Man to paint some fun designs on others! It only stains your skin for a few days, and if you stay in the sun long enough it will give you the prettiest tan lines you've ever seen! There are so many designs to get inspired from, I found great ones on Pinterest, check out my favorites here.

Also wearing one of my favorite pieces in these photos, a vintage silk kimono that I love to wear around the house, and more often than not, really want to wear in public.. haha

Princess Locks

Ever since I was young I've always had super long and healthy princess hair, until a few years ago when I started to colour my hair once a month; it became very damaged and it just hasn't been growing back to its full capacity. I decided to try clip in hair extensions from Irresistible Me. They're made from 100% human Remy hair, which basically means the hair follicles all go in one single direction to give the most natural effect possible.

I had never worn extensions before and I was so pleasantly surprised with the result! I picked the 18 inch clip ins in Honey Blonde to add length and thickness to my locks, they are so silky and a such a perfect colour match, that I almost forgot they weren't really mine! Check out their website for a helpful video on how to pick the right colour and weight for you!
